In this episode, I begin the day by walking through my mountain garden to harvest fresh sour cherries straight from the tree. Back at my countryside cabin, I carefully wash and pit the cherries before slowly cooking them with sugar over a wood fire to create a delicious homemade cherry mixture. Next, I pick fresh onions from the garden and prepare handmade meatballs by finely chopping fresh meat with a traditional cleaver. The meat is mixed with grated onion and aromatic spices, shaped into juicy meatballs, and fried until golden. Then I parboil fragrant rice and combine it with the sweet and tangy sour cherries and flavorful meatballs to make the famous Persian Sour Cherry Rice (Albaloo Polo), allowing it to steam to perfection. While the rice cooks, I collect fresh herbs from the vegetable garden to enjoy alongside this traditional homemade meal. To complete the day, I bake a delicious homemade sour cherry pie using fresh ingredients and cook it inside a traditional clay oven (Tandoor), creating a rustic dessert with an incredible aroma. Finally, I relax with a warm cup of tea and enjoy the freshly baked pie surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the mountain village.
