Tu i Teraz odc. 80.

In the latest edition of the "Here and Now" program, we revisit Robert Główczyk's trip to the University of Lodz Library. The goal was to view one of the most valuable antique books related to the former Landeshut in Schlesien – today's Kamienna Góra. This book, published in 1676, was written by Christoph Vielheuer, a city pharmacist, scientist, and author of a work that was ahead of its time. How did this publication related to Kamienna Góra come to Lodz? What was its fate after 1945? Is there a chance that residents will one day be able to see it with their own eyes? We will also discuss Vielheuer himself, his connection to the legendary city pharmacy, one of the oldest descriptions of chocolate in German-language literature, and why, as early as the 17th century, he decided to popularize medical knowledge beyond the closed world of scholars.
