Day 39 | Reframing Rejection & Embracing Joy: First Affiliate No, Spirituality Fears, and Doggo Care

Day 39 of my daily video journal. In this honest episode, I navigate a morning full of domestic chaos (bandaging a dog's leg, fixing a leaking toilet) while celebrating a major mindset shift: getting my first affiliate rejection and realizing it means I'm growing. I also discuss the fear of being "called crazy" for talking about spirituality, the joy of attending local street fairs, and Natalie Goldberg's powerful insight that we often numb ourselves because we aren't expressing our true creativity. Topics covered: ☼ Domestic Reality: Bandaging a stubborn dog and dealing with a weird toilet flapper. ☼ Joy vs. Responsibility: Ignoring the inner critic to attend a neighborhood street fair/carnival because fun is essential. ☼ Spiritual Courage: Validating the fear of online judgment (witch trials, being called "crazy") and deciding to stay authentic anyway. ☼ The First Rejection: Applying for a Libro FM affiliate program, getting rejected for not having 5k subs/website yet, and reframing it as a sign that I'm reaching too high (which is good!). ☼ Quality Over Quantity: Why I only promote B-Corps and companies I truly use/believe in (Bookshop.org, Beam Paints). ☼ Progress in Practice: Belly dancing getting easier and breath retention hitting new records (1.5 minutes!). ☼ Art & Sobriety: Natalie Goldberg's quote: "Writers who drink only drink because they're not writing." How journaling replaced drinking for me. ☼ Book Love: Dog-earing pages in Writing Down the Bones (it shows you love the book!). ☼ If you've ever felt discouraged by a "no," afraid to share your spiritual beliefs, or struggling to find the balance between duty and joy—this video is for you. A "no" just means you're reaching for something higher. Subscribe for more journey updates as I continue to reach, express, and find joy in the messy middle. I’m a 47 year old neurodivergent woman who is rediscovering joy and creativity in midlife, and these are my musings on what I’ve learned so far, as well as current challenges. I am doing this in part to get more comfortable expressing myself verbally and being seen exactly as I am, right now. If this has value to you, great! I welcome you. If you hate it or don’t get it, I wish you wealth, health, and happiness in your journey. Please find other channels you enjoy more… or make your own! 😸🖤 For now, I’m just recording with my iPhone. I may invest in more equipment later, but for now, I just want to get started without anymore excuses for not doing so.
