Ise Katagami is used to dye kimono and yukata fabric with patterns and designs such as Yuzen and Komon. Its advanced techniques, which involve meticulously carving the paper made from processed washi paper with a carving knife, have been recognized, making it the only traditional craft among over 200 that has been designated as a tool. Currently, this traditional technique is handed down only in Shirako Town, Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture, and in recent years, new possibilities have been explored in a wide range of fields, including lighting fixtures and miscellaneous goods. Den7 Station sees the appeal of Mie Prefecture as the "passion of the people who have inherited it," and communicates the region's unique sustainability from the perspective of the SDGs through videos.
