In the board game Tzolk'in, the Mayan calendar, we are a Mayan tribe competing to be the most favored by the gods. It is a resource management and worker placement game with the main visual attraction of a six-cog gear. The largest wheel marks the turn of the game and rotates the rest of the wheels, which contain the possible actions our workers can perform. Some are oriented towards production, another towards trade, another towards technology, and another towards victory points. The trick of the game is to place the workers on the cogwheels, and as they rotate, they will perform certain actions and others when we remove them. Furthermore, as turns pass and the wheels spin, these actions improve, creating a constant dilemma between holding onto workers longer or recovering them to reap their benefits sooner. The mechanics are very simple: either you place workers on the wheels, or you pick them up and perform their action. The more you place at once, the more expensive it is. The longer you take to remove them, the greater their benefit. Despite its simplicity, the decision-making is tough: do I place many workers at a higher price, or do I go little by little? Do I recover them all, or do I recover only these and hold onto the rest? Do I advance the production technology track or the religious track? Do I climb steps in the temple or construct buildings? A wealth of actions that offers several paths and different strategies. Several aspects to monitor: anticipating future actions, the position of other players' workers, satisfying the feeding round... It requires knowing how to anticipate. It's quite replayable because each player starts the game with different resources randomly assigned; they choose some and discard others. There are also monuments and buildings that vary.
