Yanjin: La Ciudad Más Estrecha del Mundo Tiene Solo 6 Metros de Ancho | Documental 4K

Somewhere in China's Yunnan province lies a city that shouldn't exist: Yanjin, the narrowest city in the world, where at its narrowest point a mere 6 meters separate the rock walls that enclose it. And yet, more than 400,000 people have built an entire vertical civilization here, squeezed into a crevice along a river. #Yanjin #ImpossibleLands #ExtremeGeography 🔍 IN THIS VIDEO YOU WILL DISCOVER: ▸ Why a city of 400,000 people fits into a strip of land barely 6 meters wide ▸ How the Nanshi River carved the canyon that imprisons it over millions of years ▸ What the name "Yanjin" really means and why salt explains it all ▸ Why many buildings have their entrance on the fourth or fifth floor ▸ What traffic is like in a city with no detours or shortcuts ▸ Why the elderly are practically confined to their homes ▸ What happens when the canyon becomes a funnel during rain ▸ Why landslides are a threat that almost no one mentions out loud ▸ What a city sounds like where the rock walls reflect every echo ▸ How many hours of direct sunlight the canyon floor actually receives ▸ What the tents, barely 2 meters wide, are like A facade rising several stories high ▸ Why no one wants to leave one of the toughest places to live ▸ What government plan is about to transform Yanjin forever 🕒 CHAPTERS: 00:00 ▸ A City That Shouldn't Exist 01:07 ▸ The Canyon Carved by the Nanshi River 02:17 ▸ Yanjin: 2,000 Years of Salt 03:08 ▸ Buildings That Grow Towards the Sky 03:25 ▸ The Traffic That Has No Escape 04:06 ▸ Daily Life in 6 Meters 05:27 ▸ When the River Floods the Streets 05:59 ▸ Landslides: The Constant Threat 07:37 ▸ Architecture of a Vertical Labyrinth 08:40 ▸ The Bridges Impossible 09:19 ▸ The Echo That Never Fades 09:45 ▸ Few Hours of Sunlight Per Day 10:33 ▸ When Adapting Becomes an Art 11:23 ▸ The Elderly Who Never Left 12:21 ▸ The Future: From Obstacle to Attraction 13:19 ▸ The Hidden Price of Tourism 14:20 ▸ The Stubbornness of Belonging 📍 ABOUT YANJIN: Yanjin is a county in Yunnan Province, in southwest China, whose urban center is compressed along the Nanshi River canyon. Its name literally means "salt of the Yunnan border": for more than 2,000 years it was one of the most important salt-producing centers in the country. The salt springs in the mountains attracted entire families and gave rise to a settlement where flat land was always the scarcest resource. When the soil along the river was exhausted, the city stopped growing outwards and began to grow upwards. Buildings are anchored directly into the rock, some with their entrances on upper floors because the nearest street is at that level. The only main road runs parallel to the river and barely has room for two vehicles: when traffic stops, all you can do is wait. Living in this canyon also means living with nature on its terms. The narrow corridor acts like a funnel: heavy rains cause the river to swell in a matter of hours, and landslides tear chunks of rock from the slopes. The government has invested in early warning systems and flood control works, but the geography of Yanjin never forgets who has the final say. Today, that same extreme geography that for centuries was an obstacle is becoming a tourist attraction. Elevated walkways, viewpoints, and restored buildings coexist with the tension of rising prices and a loss of identity. What is life really like in the narrowest city in the world, and how much can a place grow when it has nowhere to expand? Yanjin is not a victim of its surroundings: it is a demonstration of what human beings can achieve when adaptation becomes an art and physical limitations cease to be excuses and become challenges. 🔔 ABOUT THE CHANNEL Subscribe, turn on notifications, and we'll see you in Impossible Lands. 📌    / @tierrasimposibles   If this documentary changed how you see the limits of what's possible, leave a like: help more people discover this story. 🎬 OUR CREATIVE VISION At Impossible Lands, we combine rigorous research with cutting-edge technology to transform complex realities into immersive narrative experiences.
