Overpriced Freewrite Devices : Expensive AND Useless?

I have had a lot of comments over the past few years stating that the Freewrite Smart Typewriters are overpriced and useless devices. A big waste of money and people are only interested in them for aesthetic purposes. I've been using Freewrite typewriters and thought it would be a great idea to go over what my experience has been and what I think about the Freewrite devices being overpriced. One of the remarks I receive the most about the Freewrite typewriters being overpriced is that it's just too expensive for what a typewriter would have been in the 1900s. Even though this is a modern day equivalent to the classic typewriter, the technology involved is different and for some reason no one thought to check for inflation. The average prices of a typewriter in the 1930s-1940s was around $50-$60. After adjusting for inflation that's around $800 or so in today's money. Technically that would make the classic typewriter more expensive than a Freewrite! To sum up I think the Freewrite is a great device. I have loved mine. Sure, it would be great for the devices to be a less expensive writer's tool but it is what it is. I think that the value I have received from using them pays for the cost of the device. I also think that if you're looking for a daily diary and this seems like the device for you, it would be a great tool!
