Day 2 of the Pilgrims Way the first part of this Pilgrimage we follow St Swithun's Way 34 miles until we reach Farnham and then we walk along side the North Downs Way as we head for Canterbury on this ancient track that dates back to the 6 Century BC. Winchester to Canterbury this 153 miles route starts at the Shrine of St Swithun in Winchester Cathedral the former capital of England and following the long distance footpath to Canterbury Cathedral and to the shrine of Thomas Beckett. Today we continue on the St Swithun's Way a rather shorter day as we go from Watercress Line Campsite near Ropley to Alton via Four marks, Chawton home to Jane Austen and Chawton House, onwards we head past the Butts before reaching Alton. While in this Market Town we will visit St Lawrence Church and the grave of Sweet Fanny Adams. Please join me on this fantastic ancient route across the South of England, England's oldest Pilgrimage.
