faro, portugal: the algarve city everyone skips 🇵🇹

Looking for the best things to do in Faro, Portugal? We flew to the Algarve to escape the London cold, but before we'd even landed, half the trip was already cancelled. What followed was a winter trip that refused to go to plan — a terrifying boat ride out into the Atlantic with no dolphins in sight, cancelled tours, and a sea that kept changing its mind. But in between the chaos, we found the beauty of the things we never booked. This is our 4-day Faro itinerary off-season: exploring the quiet of Faro's Old Town, visiting the eerie Chapel of Bones, finding the best sunset from the top of the Faro Cathedral bell tower, taking a slow day trip to Tavira, and finally making it into the famous Benagil Cave. We ended with a walk along the Ludo Trail, watching flamingos turn the landscape pink. We came for one thing and left with another.
