HI.TV: Alesis MMT-8 Sequencer Repair/ Maintenance

Hey there so this is about fixing a few typical problems you may have with an old Alesis MMT-8 midi sequencer. A few useful things, 1: The memory battery is what makes the patches you save not disappear when you turn the unit off. These need to be replaced every so often and this machine is more than 30 years old! You need a 3.6 lithium ion battery, the shape doesn't matter as long as it fits. 2: If you have the grey version you can update the operating system (the black one already has the latest OS). You can purchase the EPROM here: http://www.burnkit2600.com/store/epro... 3: There are special kits for repairing these kinds of buttons, I just use a graphite pencil but the kits make for a longer lasting solution. One solution is gluing on a conductive material but make sure to use rubber glue that will not dry out the buttons.
