Jenna Farmer:   / jennafarmer...   ---Five Things You Should Do Before Your First Sleepover With Someone New--- Having your first ‘sleepover’ with someone you’ve been dating can be an incredibly overwhelming and daunting experience, especially if you’re living with a chronic illness or disability. Whether there are certain aspects of your life you haven’t yet shared or you’re worried about any accommodations you may have to make to your routine, it’s important you’re as prepared as you can possibly be for this moment. It’s supposed to be fun and exciting and if you’re spending the whole time worrying about what may happen, it’s going to distract you from the amazing experience. With that in mind, here are five things you should do before your first sleepover with someone new: ---Talk About Anything You Need To Beforehand-- If you’ve been on a couple of dates, chances are you will have discussed some aspects of your disability or chronic illness by now. If not, now might be the best time. Although you don’t have to open up completely, it might be worth letting them know of certain things you may need to do while they’re sleeping over. Whether it’s taking medication at a certain time or doing physiotherapy, the more prepared you both are the better. ---Let Them Ask As Many Questions As They Want-- This may be a completely new experience for the person that you’re dating and as a result, they may have lots of questions that they want to ask you. While you don’t have to answer everything, giving them the opportunity to ask you absolutely anything can really open up a meaningful dialogue about the whole situation. ---Plan What You’re Going To Be Doing In Advance--- Having a full night of plans put together is a great way to keep the date moving and to ensure the time isn’t filled with any awkward silences. From a scavenger hunt to watching your favourite movie together, there are lots of things you can plan in advance. --Have Fun--- The most important thing you need to remember to do is to have fun! Having your first sleepover with someone new is always exciting, especially if you’re relaxed and ready to have some fun together!
