Inflation: Is THIS Why Ghanaians Woke Up at Dawn Chanting ‘Prr Sa Prr’? | Derrick Agyekum
What is the essence of having good macroeconomic indicators on paper if you are unable to pay our teachers? From October 2025, you are unable to pay our cocoa farmers. What kind of governance is this? Is this what Ghanaians voted for? Is this the reason why the Ghanaian people woke up at dawn chanting “Prr sa Prr”? Based on what is happening today, the NPP was better. Derrick Agyekum, Member, NPP Communications Team Fitch Projects 12.8% Inflation: The IMF predicted in 2024 that inflation would fall to single digits, reaching about 8% by the end of 2025. If we can outperform the IMF’s forecast, we can also outperform Fitch. As a party, the NDC does not just meet the targets set for us; we surpass them. We challenge those targets and exceed them. With prudent and aggressive economic management, we will beat them. — Dr. Stephen Kpanti Issaka, Member, NDC Communications Team Fitch Projects 12.8% Inflation: The government, as a matter of urgency, must come and explain to us which fiscal and monetary policies are driving these projections. What decisions are they taking, and what have they stopped doing that is contributing to these outcomes? We urge the government to review whatever they are no longer doing that may be contributing to the increase in inflation. We also encourage them to revisit their economic policies, especially since they often describe themselves as better managers of the economy. Based on what is happening today, the NPP was better. Derrick Agyekum, Member, NPP Communications Team Fitch Projects 12.8% Inflation: On paper, we have achieved phenomenal, spectacular economic success, but that is not what is happening in the markets. We do not live on inflation on paper; we live on good soup and akple. A bit of inflation can act as a stimulus in the economy. The NDC told us in plain language that they had the mettle, acumen, and alacrity to turn things around. There is a disconnect, a yawning chasm, between what is on the government’s paper and what is happening on the ground, and the government must feel compelled to bridge that gap. Selorm Dramani Dzramado, Leading Member, Arise Ghana New Utility Tariff: Utility tariffs are increasing because the NPP left what we call a multi-year tariff trap under the IMF’s policy, where every five years there must be a baseline policy on how much tariffs will cost. — Dr. Stephen Kpanti Issaka, Member, NDC Communications Team New Utility Tariff: Government should talk to PURC that we are in no mood to allow them to implement another increment of tariffs on us. Otherwise, they will have us as guests in their office. — Selorm Dramani Dzramado, Leading Member, Arise Ghana Don't forget to subscribe for more Updates: / @joyprimetv #JoyPrime Visit the News Site: https://www.myjoyonline.com/ for more.
