Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney pitched his country as a top investment destination for Saudi Arabia during a visit to the country on Thursday, adding that the two countries are well placed to deepen mining and energy ties. The prime minister announced $20 billion in critical minerals deals during a Saudi-Canadian investment forum in Riyadh and later spoke about how Canadian expertise is helping transform Saudi Arabia. “Canadian expertise is supporting roads, rails and urban development across the Kingdom,” he said, adding that new training partnerships are supporting Saudi Arabia’s domestic aviation and defence industry. He also spoke about a delegation of Canadian pension funds that would be visiting the Kingdom in the coming months to identify new investment opportunities.
