She was the first woman to win the Grand Prix de Rome, a prestigious composition competition, in 1913 at just 19 years old. Her sister, Nadia Boulanger, the renowned pedagogue whose students included Leonard Bernstein, Quincy Jones, and Michel Legrand, ensured the legacy and work of Lili Boulanger after her untimely death.
