A Shortcut to Awesome: Cassandra Data Modeling (Jon Haddad, The Last Pickle) | C* Summit 2016

Aside from learning the nuance of an eventually consistent distributed database you're also tasked with learning the subtleties of a wide row store which evolved over time into a partition row store. What does that even mean? In this talk I'll introduce the Cassandra Dataset Manager (cdm), a tool written in Rust, for installing curated Cassandra data models like they're Linux packages. Along with these datasets come blog posts, tutorials, sample applications and Jupyter notebooks for you to learn from. Instead of iterating over the same bad data model a dozen times, you can now leverage highly scalable, reference data models written by Cassandra pros with years of experience. About the Speaker Jon Haddad Consultant, The Last Pickle Jon Haddad has 15 years experience in both development and operations. For the last 11 years, he's worked at various startups in southern California. In a past life, he put Cassandra in production and co-wrote cqlengine, the Python object mapper for CQL.
