In Episode 16 of the #BaltiStreetRun challenge, we explore Kiev Street in Bălți in reverse direction: starting from the heart of top-level football and finishing at one of the city's most emotional historical landmarks. Today's route is packed with contrasts: ⚽ Football at the starting line: We begin at the intersection of Saint Nicholas and Mihai Viteazul streets, right next to the Municipal Stadium, home of CSF Bălți, one of Moldova's top-flight football clubs competing in the LIGA 7777. 🏟 The legendary Locomotiv Stadium: At the other end of the street stands Locomotiv Stadium, one of the oldest football venues still in operation in Moldova. It hosts the home matches of CSFCJT Atletico Bălți in Liga 2 and youth competitions. 🚧 A ticking infrastructure problem: Between Cahul and Feroviarilor streets, we encounter one of the most striking sights on the route. An entire traffic lane has been closed for years due to the risk of road collapse caused by severe leaks from the underground sewer system. 🚂 A powerful historical finish: The run ends near North Railway Station, at the intersection with Feroviarilor Street, beside the Monument to the Victims of Political Repressions and Deportations of the 1940s — a place that carries a profound historical significance.
