Hohe Geige (3.395) via Westgrat - Über grobes Blockwerk zum Gipfel, Ötztaler Alpen, Tirol

Hello everyone, At the beginning of September 2020, I climbed the Hohe Geige (3,395 m) in the Ötztal Alps via the west ridge. The starting point was the free hiking car park between Plangeroß and Weißwald in the Pitztal Valley. From there, an easy alpine hike takes you to the Rüsselsheimer Hütte (2,323 m) and further to the Gahbinden lookout point (2,650 m). From here, the trail along the west ridge becomes challenging, with a difficulty rating of T5 and UIAA II. The climb from the parking lot to the summit totals over 1,800 m. Good fitness, experience in alpine terrain, as well as absolute surefootedness and a head for heights are necessary. I would personally advise against leaving the ridge on the way back and descending through the flank! This option is sometimes suggested as a circular route. However, the trail through the flank is very dangerous due to rockfall and poorly marked. Unfortunately, there have been fatal accidents there. The ridge is much safer. An overnight stay at the Rüsselsheimer Hut is recommended if you want to split the tour into two days. Please take care of yourselves and only attempt this tour if all conditions are met, including very stable weather. I worked on this video for over six hours to clearly demonstrate the challenges of the tour. I would therefore ask you to like it for all my work. I don't earn a cent from my videos; my only motivation is your positive feedback. I would also be very happy if you subscribe to my channel. As long as the channel grows, I will regularly produce new tour videos. Best regards, Harry Music: Scott Buckley - The Miracle of Flight LEMMiNO - Voyage
