Lianbaoyeze, also known as Stone Mountain (Tibetan name: Yerjing Zala), is situated in the southeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, straddling Aba County in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, as well as Jiuzhi County and Banma County in Qinghai Province. It covers a total area of more than 800 square kilometers, of which roughly 500 square kilometers lie within Aba, Sichuan. In Qinghai Province, the same mountain range is known as Nianbaoyuze, or Guoluo Mountain. As an extension of Guoluo Mountain—a branch of the grand Bayan Har Mountains on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau—Lianbaoyeze ranges in elevation from 3,500 meters to 5,369 meters, with its main peak permanently capped in snow. A renowned sacred mountain in Tibetan regions, it ranks eighth among the Ten Great Sacred Mountains of Tibet and first among sacred mountains in the Amdo region. Its Tibetan name Yerjing Zala translates to “Dignified Jade Peak,” making it a revered holy site for local Tibetans. The scenic area boasts natural landscapes including Zhagarcuo Lake, Panshi Rock, Baixiang Sea, Bonsai Beach, Luoxia Lake, and vast flower-covered meadows. It also provides comprehensive facilities such as mountain cabins, catering, medical support, and emergency rescue services. Recognized as an ecotourism demonstration zone in Sichuan Province, it is celebrated for its jagged peaks and rock formations, glacial relics, and snow-capped alpine lakes. Lianbaoyeze has been honored with titles including “China’s Most Promising New Scenic Spot” and “2017 Most Anticipated Tourist Destination” by the National Geopark.
