Between Waterloo and Guildford it didn't call at any intermediate stations, and rather than taking the higher speed route through Woking and Worplesdon, it instead ran via Claygate and Effingham Junction without stopping. Beyond Guildford it was all stations to Portsmouth & Southsea, where, in the current timetable, it has been extended to Portsmouth Harbour.
