La Villette Cemetery, Paris, France. The cemetery entrance is located on Rue d'Hautpoul in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Covering 1.13 hectares, it was opened in 1828 and contains 2,500 graves. Originally the fourth cemetery of the commune of La Villette, it became the official cemetery for the burials of residents of the 19th arrondissement of Paris after the annexation of La Villette to Paris in 1860. Since 1880, it has only offered perpetual concessions. It is graced with approximately one hundred trees, primarily maples, lindens, and horse chestnuts.
