Vorher – Nachher: Wie Sina & Fabian ihr historisches Haus liebevoll saniert haben | ARD Room Tour
Sina and Fabian have fulfilled their dream of a house with history. In a small town near Heidelberg, they found an old vicarage from 1749 and spent three years renovating it themselves. The story of their dream house began when Sina discovered a notice in May 2019. It featured a photo of the old tiles that are still in the hallway of the vicarage today. "I immediately thought to myself, I'll take a closer look. And we both liked the other photos of the house. Then we arranged a viewing appointment. That was the first time we had ever looked at a house. And we immediately had an idea of what we could do with the house." Sina and Fabian also had very specific ideas about what their house should look like. The history of the building should be visible and tangible. For example, it was important to Sina that the wooden beams were visible as part of the old building and the history of the house. The house should also offer plenty of space, lots of light and a great openness. This also required a bit of persuasion in cooperation with the monument protection authorities. Sina wanted a balcony and two floor-to-ceiling doors at the rear of the house to create an extension of the living area into the garden. However, only one door was initially approved. Sina didn't give up and argued that the symmetry would then no longer be given - and in fact the heritage protection office then followed her arguments. The house and the 1,260 square meter plot cost 350,000 euros. They spent around the same amount on renovating the house. They gutted the house completely themselves. Originally, they had planned to hire an architect to help them. However, he backed out just before the start. Fabian and Sina used YouTube videos to acquire some knowledge and dared to do the work on their own. During the gutting work in 2020, they found all sorts of things in the walls of the 270-year-old rectory. Old photos, newspaper articles, sayings from the workers, a parish letter. And they themselves also hid a time capsule in the brickwork. With a few coins, photos, a letter and a newspaper article from the coronavirus era. Sina regularly posts pictures of her house on Instagram under the name @siebzehn49 ( / siebzehn49 . She often receives comments from people who find her house too pale and colorless. However, it was important to Sina to avoid the furniture distracting from the substance of the house. That's why she also avoided bright colors. "I don't like it when a piece of furniture shouts 'Here! Everything should match. The colors, the materials and the style." Sina, Fabian and their young son Matti are over the moon with their new home - even if the work is far from finished. For example, they still want to convert the vaulted cellar belonging to the house into a place for celebrations and wine storage. They also want to build an arbor in the garden with an outdoor kitchen. "And one day I want to have chickens!" Sina already knows.
