The French Nationals top 8 gave us something that felt straight out of the anime. Two North American players crossed the Atlantic to take over a foreign nationals — TrifGaming, a 3-time YCS winner, and Julien Kehon, the reigning Yu-Gi-Oh World Champion. Both made deep runs, and they collided in the top 8 in the most important matchup the format has to offer: Julien on Branded against Trif on Kewl Tune, the two best decks in the game right now. This duel had everything. High-level decision making, format-defining lines, moments of real sportsmanship, and a few misplays that mattered.
