异国“故乡”|日本遗孤过能国弘:日本没有家乡味儿

They share a common name—"Japanese war orphans." To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, China News Service specially planned and produced the documentary series "Homeland in a Foreign Land." The series tells the stories of 10 Japanese war orphans, showcasing the boundless kindness and human brilliance of their Chinese foster parents who transcended blood ties and national borders through authentic historical footage, firsthand accounts, and expert interpretations, conveying to the world the powerful message of "Never forget history, cherish peace." At the age of 19, Guo Nenghong first learned of his identity as a Japanese war orphan. He described himself at the time as "shocked," "empty," and "lonely." Rather than saying he couldn't face his Japanese identity, it's more accurate to say he was unwilling to accept that he wasn't Chinese. In an era of food shortages, his adoptive mother would go hungry herself to ensure Guo Nengguohong had enough to eat, and she did everything she could to support his university education. These acts of love warmed his life. After his adoptive parents passed away, Guo Nengguohong moved to Japan, but he always felt that Japanese society was distant and cold, "lacking the flavor of home." Now, Guo Nengguohong frequently travels to China to visit relatives. Standing atop the Yellow Crane Tower, a place he has longed to see, familiar verses flow from his lips. For him, Chinese culture is deeply rooted in his blood.
