Video Overview This lecture explores the fundamental concept of linearity in electrical circuits and its role in applying the superposition principle. We first establish why resistor-only networks are inherently linear, making them ideal for superposition analysis. Next, we examine how voltage and current sources act as inputs and must be carefully considered when applying the theorem. The lecture also extends the discussion to circuits with inductors and capacitors, showing how these reactive elements are linear too. Finally, we demonstrate the procedure for “turning off” independent voltage and current sources when applying the superposition theorem.
