Peintures de Giacomo Balla ( 1871 - 1958 )

Giacomo Balla (1871–1958) was an Italian painter and sculptor best known for his Futurist style works. His most productive period was in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when he was at the forefront of the Futurist movement. His popularity declined with Futurism after World War I, but he enjoyed a resurgence shortly before his death. Balla's early paintings were largely in the pointillist style, although he was also influenced by the ideas of Italian Divisionism. The latter's Impressionist preoccupation with the representation of light would accompany him throughout his career. However, he was sufficiently impressed by the aims of Futurism to lend his name to the Futurist Manifesto of 1910. Later, the ideas and style of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti became more important in Balla's work, and he added more speed and movement to his paintings.
