The Daniel Adamson: The Oldest Mersey Steam Tug

In this video I've been invited aboard the Daniel Adamson, a rare steam-powered tug boat that once worked the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal. Built in 1903 and originally named the Ralph Brocklebank, the tug was bought by the Ship Canal Company, refitted with an art-deco saloon for hosting dignitaries and even royalty. The newly named Daniel Adamson enjoyed a life unique to other tugs. But by the 1980s it was marked for the scrapyard and saved only by local tug skipper Dan Cross, and a huge team of supporters and volunteers. Today "The Danny" has a proud new life carrying passengers, and a subject of great industrial and historical importance. Thanks to Dan and the crew of "The Danny" for the tour. Please check out their website for more information on the history, and the days out they can offer. www.thedanny.co.uk Thanks to Dan again for the photos, video and drone footage.
