An American Expanse Like No Other | Grand Canyon National Park

You've heard of it, I've heard of it, we've all heard of it. This is America's largest canyon system and arguably the most important highlight of any visit to the Southwest. Since time immemorial, those who venture to northern Arizona's desert wilderness have received immense delight that comes with the chance to stare and at this natural spectacle. The more glances you take at the intricately carved Colorado River canyon, the more of a challenge it becomes to digest the great Grand Canyon's views as you begin realize that you're a tiny speck along the rim of a monstrous gorge. Countless amounts of water and wind, striking and scraping against its red rocks has revealed billions of years' worth of geologic history along its cracks and divides. At 277 miles long, such a size for a canyon would no doubt leave any visitor with a laundry list of sights to see and ideally a long time spent before moving onto their next destination afield. I too greatly desired to spend a "grand" amount of time here for the sake of the Coverage Project. Be careful what you wish for, because let's just say I got exactly that, perhaps a bit more than I ever bargained for.
