Shalom💖I'm Pastor Ana, and today I bring you a deep reflection! 📖💡✨ 2 Samuel Chapter 20 1 And it came to pass that there was a man of Belial there, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no portion in David, neither have we any inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tent, O Israel. 2 So all the men of Israel turned from following David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah clung to their king, from the Jordan even unto Jerusalem. 3 And David came to his house in Jerusalem: and the king took the ten wives, his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them under guard, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up until the day of their death, living as widows. 4 Then the king said to Amasa, "Assemble the men of Judah for me within three days, and be present here yourself." 5 So Amasa went to assemble the men of Judah, but he delayed beyond the time he had appointed. 6 And David said to Abishai, "Now Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more harm than Absalom did to us. Take your master's servants and pursue him, or he will take for himself fortified cities and escape from us." 7 Then Joab's men, the Cherethites, the Pelethites, and all the mighty men went out after him; and they went out from Jerusalem to pursue Sheba the son of Bichri. 8 When they were at the great stone that is in Gibeon, Amasa went ahead of them. And Joab's garments, which he had put on, were girded on him; and over them was a belt with a sword fastened across his waist in its sheath; and as he went, it fell off. 9 And Joab said to Amasa, Are you in good health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him. 10 But Amasa paid no attention to the sword that was in Joab's hand; so he struck him with it in the fifth rib, and spilled his entrails on the ground, and did not strike him again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued Sheba the son of Bichri. 11 And one of Joab's men stood by him, and said, He that favoreth Joab, and he that is for David, let him follow Joab. 12 Now Amasa was wallowing in the blood in the middle of the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he removed Amasa from the highway into the field, and threw a cloth over him, when he saw that all who approached him stood still. 13 When he was removed from the highway, all the people continued after Joab, to pursue Sheba the son of Bichri. 14 And he went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, and to Beth-maacah, and to all the Berites; and they were gathered together, and also went after him. 15 And they came and besieged him at Abel of Beth-maacah, and they built a mound against the city, and it was within a trench; and all the people who were with Joab struck the wall, to throw it down. 16 Then a wise woman cried out from the city: Hear, hear; say, I pray you, to Joab, Come nearer, that I may speak with you. 17 And when he came near to her, the woman said, Art thou Joab? And he answered, I am he. Then she said to him, Hear the words of thy maid. And he answered, I hear. 18 Then she spake, saying, They were wont to speak in times past, saying, They will surely seek counsel of Abel; and thus they ended the matter. 19 I am one of the peaceable and faithful in Israel: thou seekest to destroy a city and a mother in Israel; why wouldest thou swallow up the inheritance of the LORD? 20 And Joab answered and said, Far be it, far be it from me to swallow up or to destroy. 21 The matter is not so; but a man of mount Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath lifted up his hand against the king, even against David himself: only deliver him unto me, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said to Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to you over the wall. 22 Then the woman went to all the people in her wisdom; and they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and threw it to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they departed from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.
