How to change a backup lamp/ reverse light switch 2010 Toyota Corolla

***Time Stamps In Description*** Hi guys! If your reverse light on a manual transmission car is being buggy and you've already tested the bulb, chances are you have a bad backup lamp switch. I wasn't able to find any other videos showing how to swap out the switch in a 2010 Corolla. I believe this is the same for most other manual transmission Corollas/ Toyotas. Your location may vary depending on the year. I don't think it's a part that normally goes out, mine did at 240k miles. Warning! Do at your own risk. This video is for general information only. Part number for switch: 84210-52010 Location: 0:54 How to test: 12:25 You can test out your backup lamp switch before you order a new one by locating the connector and with the car off, you can insert a paper clip on both sides to complete the circuit. Then when you put your car into accessory mode, check to see if your tail lights are on (your car does not have to be in reverse). If it's on, then chances are you do need the backup lamp switch. Do's and Don'ts: 1:05 -From my experience, you won't be able to install the new switch without a 27mm cutout socket. I was able to order one from Amazon as no tool store had it in stock. -A 27mm wrench WILL NOT WORK. I thought it would, but when I tried to install the new switch it wouldn't fit. -Make sure no contaminants enter the hole when switch is being removed or reinstalled -Only do this while the engine is cold! -Wear gloves/protective eye wear -Make sure you keep track of all your bolts! Tools needed: 4:00 -Ratchet -Small extension -Long extension -10mm socket -27mm cutout socket -Small flat head screwdriver -Plastic clip remover (not needed, but it will make your life a whole lot easier).
