If you used multiple strands, you can sew with a single strand but double it. Sew with a blunt needle or the butt of the needle so it doesn't snag and you can pull freely and ensure the seams aren't tight. It's sewn by hiding the little snake, and two strands are picked up from each side (2 rows), next to the unstitched and right sides used in the decrease. This way, the right sides are joined. I unstitch the basting stitch and sew. When there's excess on one side, I must pick up two rows on one side and one row on the other side. The basics are two rows on one side and two rows on the other side, taking up the free space so I can pull and turn to ensure the seams don't pull. When I get to the sleeve head, where the selvedge stitch is closed, I must pick up one row at a time.
