DINGE, die nur Counter-Strike-Gamer von FRÜHER kennen
Today we're going back a long way in Counter-Strike history and looking at things that only Counter-Strike gamers of yesteryear know: Who still remembers IRC, ICQ, Punkbuster, or the Counter-Strike flavor? Who still played in the clan base, their local pub, or the ESPL – perhaps even against legendary clans like TAMM, mTw, the Schroet Kommando, Deutschlands kranke Horde, Son-Y, or najA? And who still remembers Counter-Strike maps like cs_mansion, de_prodigy, de_survivor, or cs_assault? Counter-Strike can look back on a 24-year history of success, even though there were many things that have since been forgotten: The Night Vision Goggles were important in the past, as many maps were very dark. The riot shield was introduced in CS 1.6 as a new, tactical component, but it was quickly banned in leagues. One shouldn't forget the incredibly slow and incredibly expensive internet back then: It wasn't easy to play over the internet with a modem or ISDN connection. After Telekom abolished ISDN flat rates, many players' phone bills exploded. In this video, several Counter-Strike legends look back on the beginnings of CS: Jonas "Johnny R."
