This is the most popular beach in Garut. The sandy beach, the crashing waves, the complete facilities, the expanse of fishing boats, and the cool Dutch-era pier. This is Santolo Beach. Talking about beaches in Garut, it wouldn't be complete without mentioning Santolo Beach. Many YouTubers have already covered this beach. But it still feels incomplete if I don't mention it here. So, this is Santolo Beach. It's the busiest and most famous beach in Garut, especially during New Year's, Eid al-Fitr, or other holiday seasons, when it can cause incredible traffic jams. Not only are tourists from Garut visiting, but many also come from outside the city, such as Bandung, Jakarta, and other cities. This beach is close to the LAPAN (National Space Agency) office. Santolo Beach has many attractions. The sand is white, the waves are relatively calm, so those who like to swim can go out into the ocean, but don't go too far, as there is still potential danger lurking. We can continue exploring this beach and walking along the beautiful sand. I'm sure this will be a fun experience for you. In the morning, you'll be treated to the sight of hundreds of fishing boats parked around the mouth of the Cilauteuren River. You can also rent these boats for a cruise at a reasonable price; if you find the price expensive, just haggle. Santolo also offers a comprehensive range of facilities, including hotels and lodging. From lodgings priced in the hundreds of thousands to resort-style hotels, there are roadside hotels and beachside lodgings with stunning ocean views. There are food stalls and even premium seafood restaurants. There are plenty of places of worship, such as mosques. Parking is also plentiful. Now, you don't need to worry about extortion, as Santolo Beach is now free of illegal parking, which tends to be extortionate. There used to be a fish market here selling fresh fish from the fishermen, but unfortunately, the market was closed when I visited. And if you're visiting Santolo Beach, don't forget to visit Santolo Pier on Santolo Island. To reach Santolo Pier, you have to cross by boat, rented by the local fishermen. The fare is quite affordable, only IDR 5,000 per person, so a round trip is only IDR 10,000. If that's not enough, you can also sail around the island. The fare will vary, of course; please arrange it with the fishermen. And cruising around on this boat is truly exhilarating. The pier offers a cool experience. We can see remnants of this beach's past glory... There's a lighthouse tower standing proudly here. Luckily, we came here after obtaining permission to climb the lighthouse. And the view from the lighthouse is truly extraordinary. The entire coastline is clearly visible from here. For those who like to photograph sunrises or sunsets, don't worry, this beach offers both. The sunset is stunning, and the sunrise is equally stunning. Santolo Beach is located in Mancagahar Village, Cikelet District, Garut Regency. It's about 10 minutes from Pamengpeuk Square, or about a 3-hour drive from Garut city center. Access is easy, and all types of vehicles can easily reach Santolo Beach.
