Leichtbau extrem! Türelement für die Modulanlage aus Kohlefaser und Aramid

As the planned conversion/extension of a hinged door element of my modular layout became increasingly larger, the substructure was to be constructed not from plywood or multiplex as usual, but from a torsion-resistant lightweight construction. Here, I'll show you the frame structure made of CFRP/carbon with an aramid honeycomb. The laminating resin used for bonding was thickened with microcellulose, microballoons, and fiberglass chips. I laminated some areas using the wet process with GRP/fiberglass and peel ply. Further information on terrain construction with Styrodur and hot-cutting wire, as well as machining with diamond tools for the Proxxon and circular saw, is also included.
