Bluesy, jazz-tinged and oozing with sheer class.” – Music Republic Magazine Today, Cardiff-born, Sheffield-raised and now London-based blues/soul artist Kat Eaton releases her new single ‘Barricade’ written alongside Andy Platts (Mama’s Gun, Young Gun Silver Fox) – a stunning low-key motown-esque cut dipped in Kat’s soulful vocals. “We got together in Andy’s studio earlier this year with an idea about writing something that captured a moment in time. Specifically, that split second when you wake up the day after someone has left you, before your brain has had a chance to remember what happened. You lie there blissfully ignorant for a few quiet seconds until the memories all come flooding back. Then you keep your eyes closed, reluctant to face the day, until eventually you get up and get on, albeit with your barriers up around you. You know it’s a short-term solution, but it works for now, and you refuse to be a victim.” Kat Eaton is rapidly making a name for herself in the UK, as well as overseas. Originally discovered through BBC Introducing, Kat's singles ‘Giving It Up’ and ‘The Joker’ earned her strong support from the late Sir Terry Wogan on BBC Radio 2, Robert Elms and Gaby Roslin on BBC Radio London, as well as BBC Introducing in Sheffield. 'The Joker' was also play-listed at BBC Radio London and NPO Radio 2 in Holland. Two more singles from ‘When You’re Not Around’ EP were playlisted at NPO Radio 5. Kat’s latest single ‘Where Were We’ (released May ’19) stayed on the NPO Radio 5 playlist for 13 weeks. Having already toured the UK/EU supporting various artists (Marc Broussard, The Teskey Brothers, Mama’s Gun), selling out multiple headlines shows in London, co-writing with the likes of Ruby Turner, Caro Emerald and Andy Platts (Mama’s Gun/Young Gun Silver Fox) and breaking through to new territories via the national radio airwaves of Holland and Belgium, Kat has established herself as one of the hardest working and versatile talents ascending in the UK music scene.
