Meanwhile, an Englishman, John Lang, keeps writing about the peaceful protests in India in his newspaper - The Mofussilite. Laxmibai too gets to hear about it. On the festive occasion of `Raksha Bandhan', Laxmibai gives Nelson the permission letter to meet her brothers. She is horrified to see Samar and Karma badly tortured and vows to have them freed soon. Nelson is furious reading John's articles praising the Indians, especially Laxmibai, so he flings it. Laxmibai picks it and Nelson taunts her about being uneducated. However, Malcolm and he are stunned to hear her speak in impeccable English. Laxmibai tells Tatya Guru that they must find out about John Lang soon. On the other hand, the Prime Minister gets letters from the other kingdoms and informs Gangadhar that the kings of the neighbouring provinces were worried about the arrival of the British battalion in a powerful state like Jhansi, and were blaming Queen Laxmibai's foolishness for it. An upset Gangadhar summons the queen. Queen Laxmibai and Tatya Tope read the newspaper articles written by John in favour of India. Tatya Tope informs her that John has also fought cases for the Indians, and even won them! Meanwhile, Nelson tells Malcolm that there will be no case against Samar Singh and Karma; it will be only death for them!
