A tango neighborhood, bohemian, relaxed, family-friendly, with culture at its core, a mix of concrete and greenery, though luckily it retains low-rise houses and many cobblestone streets, which highlight its identity. Almagro has a wonderful story to tell, so much history that we're convinced there will be several more videos. Together with Boedo, it forms Commune 5. Remember that in 1968, the neighborhoods of Buenos Aires were established, and four years later, their boundaries were officially defined. What we find with Almagro and Boedo is that history and the present intertwine, transcending those 1972 boundaries. The residents can surely attest to this. Almagro is named after Juan María de Almagro, owner of those lands when Buenos Aires was not yet the capital, an area known in the small village as "Quinta de Almagro." In fact, its main house was located where Rivadavia and Medrano avenues intersect today, right where the renowned bar "Las Violetas" is located. Now, we invite you to enjoy the video.
