TTP: The Ticking Time Bomb Presented by Dr. Rebecca Shaw and Dr. Tina Dutt

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a rare but life-threatening medical emergency. Urgent treatment is required within 4-8 hours of suspected diagnosis for a greater chance of survival. Treatment requires transfer to a specialist TTP centre for life-saving treatment. This webinar will cover ‘what is TTP?’, clinical features (including warning signs for impending deterioration) and acute management of TTP from suspected diagnosis to management by the specialist centre. Emergency ambulance transfer now forms part of the NHSE specialist commissioned national service specification for TTP. Dr Tina Dutt (Director for the Liverpool TTP Specialist Centre, NW England) will also be present for Q&A. About Dr Rebecca J. Shaw My name is Rebecca Shaw, and I am a specialist registrar in Haematology and clinical research fellow. I have taken time out of my clinical training to undertake a PhD at the University of Liverpool with a specific focus on TTP. I have been involved in the care of TTP patients (both in the acute setting and longer term) for over 5 years and have a keen interest in education and raising awareness of this serious condition. I am keen to ensure that we can work effectively with the ambulance services to improve outcomes for this rare disease patient group. Purchase your certificate for £1.99- https://bit.ly/2P5WYgN #CPDme
