MTA New York City Bus: A look back at the 1999 New Flyer D60HF Articulated Units from 2012 to 2016.
Here we have a compilation video of the 1999 New Flyer D60HF Articulated units that were completely retired by late last year. I recorded most of these clips over a four year span (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016) when they were in the Bronx and Manhattan in the early years, to the time a batch were sent to Queens, to the time a couple of units were running on their last legs with new numbers given to them. I hope you enjoyed this video. Various clips were shortened from the originals, so check my channel for more full videos. For some context of the units, these buses were delivered in between 1999-2001 to Gun Hill, Kingsbridge and the Westside Bus Depots numbered 5250-5509. As time went on, the units were rotated around other depots like 100 Street, 126 Street and West Farms depots. By 2012, brand new Nova Bus LFS Articulated Units and New Flyer XD60 Xcelsior Articulated Units were replacing these old units in The Bronx and Manhattan. However, a couple of them were given a new lease of life in 2013 by moving over to MTA Bus Company (Note that a few units did go to Bus Co in 2007-08). A lot of them were given new numbers because new buses started to occupy the older numbers, with the renumbered units being 1001-1009, 1011-1027, 1300, and 4704-4709 and although some buses did keep their old numbers. By 2015, with more Xcelsiors coming to Bus Co, some of the remaining 1999 units were renumbered again to 4800-4806 (apart from 5485 and 5491), and by 2017 all of them were gone. This is just a look back at the New Flyers during 2012-2016. If you want to see older photos and videos of the buses, go check other sites like ttmg.org or other YouTube channels. The buses shown are from Kingsbridge, Gun Hill, West Farms, Tuskegee Airmen, Michael J. Quill, 126 Street, and JFK Depots. Videos were taken between September 2012 to May 2016.
