Сталинградская битва - музей-панорама [Волгоград]

The Battle of Stalingrad is a panoramic museum in the hero city of Volgograd. It is Volgograd's main museum and consists of eight exhibition halls and four dioramas. Today, we will tour some of the museum's halls. Hello, dear viewers of the Era of Time channel. Today, we present to you a tour of the "Battle of Stalingrad" panoramic museum, led by researcher and museum worker Ivan Aleksandrovich. And first of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Ivan Aleksandrovich for his work and also a special thank you to the management of the "Battle of Stalingrad" museum. I would like to point out that this is only an introductory tour, and it is being published on the channel primarily to attract younger generations (and others) to the study of the history of the Great Patriotic War, as well as to encourage visits to the museum and similar memorial sites. About the museum: The "Battle of Stalingrad" Panorama Museum The complex was built on the historic site of the September 1942 landing of the 13th Guards Rifle Division under Major General A. I. Rodimtsev. The building is two-story: the first houses the museum, storage facilities, and an administrative building. A rotunda for the panorama is erected on the roof platform. The central square of the panorama museum houses a permanent exhibition of military equipment. The complex also houses a federal historical monument, the "Historical Reserve - Ruins of the Grudinin Mill," which, along with other memorial sites from the Battle of Stalingrad—the "Rodimtsev Wall," "Pavlov's House," and the monument to the sailors of the Volga Military Flotilla—forms a single historical and cultural complex, a landmark and historical and cultural monument of regional significance. [Information from the museum's official website]. Historical background: In 1936, a resolution of the Stalingrad Regional Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) established the Stalin Museum of the Defense of Tsaritsyn. The museum's grand opening took place on January 3, 1937, in the building that housed the defense headquarters of the Tsaritsyn Council of Workers, Peasants, and Cossack Deputies during the Civil War. The museum's exhibits chronicled the city's transformation into a major industrial center, the history of the Civil War in our region, and the construction of socialism in Stalingrad. In October 1941, by decision of the Stalingrad Regional Council, the museum and all its valuables were evacuated to the Trans-Volga region. During fierce street fighting, the museum building was severely damaged. In March 1943, the museum's valuables were returned to Stalingrad and later displayed in the basement of the Central Department Store. Several hundred people visited the exhibit daily. Recognizing the significance of the Battle of Stalingrad in world history, in November 1942, the city and regional leadership decided to collect historical materials about this great event. In January 1943, the regional committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) adopted a resolution "On the reorganization of the Comrade Stalin Museum of the Defense of Tsaritsyn into the Comrade Stalin Museum of the Defense of Tsaritsyn-Stalingrad and the restoration of the destroyed museum building." On June 7, 1943, the Stalingrad City Defense Committee adopted a resolution establishing an exhibition at the Museum of the Defense of Tsaritsyn-Stalingrad in three sections: the defense of Tsaritsyn, the defense of Stalingrad, and the restoration of Stalingrad. The critical work of creating the new exhibition began. It was planned to be housed in the restored building of the Tsaritsyn Defense Museum. On June 6, 1948, the renovated museum opened to visitors. In 1949, the museum acquired the status of a state cultural institution. In connection with the CPSU's decisions "to overcome the consequences of Stalin's personality cult" and the renaming of the city, in 1962 the museum was renamed the Volgograd State Defense Museum. The museum exhibits began to focus on a more objective and comprehensive presentation of the Battle of Stalingrad. On May 31, 1982, the Defense Museum was transformed into the Volgograd State Panorama Museum "The Battle of Stalingrad." The ceremonial opening of the panorama "The Defeat of the Nazi Troops at Stalingrad" took place on July 8, 1982. On May 6, 1985, the "Battle of Stalingrad" Museum welcomed its first visitors. The panorama museum consists of eight exhibition halls, four dioramas, a pre-panoramic hall, a panoramic hall, a Triumphal Hall, a cinema, and a military history library.
