Khajuraho Panna and a Jungle Resort - Part 1

Tendu Leaf Jungle Resort in the periphery of Panna Forest, Madhya Pradesh, is mere10 hours train journey from Delhi. We dropped at Khajuraho station early in the morning and when we reached the resort in about 25 minutes, we were transported to a different world. With trees and wood huts decorated with totems and water bodies it was like the forests of Amazon. Forests seem to be at the core of this property and all the cottages are made of recycled wood, mud and straw with totemic art embossed on top of them. Sustainable tourism is Tendu Leaf Resort's ethos and the huge property is powered by solar panels. The administration routinely procures plants locally or gets varieties shipped from various parts of India and have already planted more than 2 Lakh saplings in the premise. This afforestation process is their way of paying back to the nature. The property is located on the banks of Ken or Karnawati river. Our eyes popped out when we saw the deck almost jutting out on the river. Creative juices flow easily in such places and they routinely have art camps and workshops in their spacious studio. The beautiful Khajuraho temples, about 30 minutes drive from here, help to inspire artists too. Great landscape, cosy cottages, warm hospitality, wholesome meals and cool location in the lap of nature, It was an ideal break from city lives for us.
