P14 et US rifle model of 1917 - Tir & Histoire #59

#ww1 #history 📜The P13 is an English rifle that was supposed to replace the SMLE and at the same time bring about the change of a new cartridge, the .276 Enfield, replacing the (obsolete?) 303b rimfire cartridge. But with the arrival of the Great War, the project was put aside, to finally keep the production of the rifle, but in 303b, which will give birth to the P14. After all, it seems logical that from a logistical point of view the English chose to keep a single cartridge! The British factories were working hard on the SMLE, and the British turned to the Americans to manufacture their weapons: Remington and Winchester made them. In 1917, America enters the conflict and needs rifles. The 1903 Springfields were not enough. But Remington and Winchester are still stuck with the production of the P14. They will thus propose a P14, but in the cartridge US 30-06, which will give rise to the US17. We will see in this video a P14 in sniper configuration.
