Hyundai IONIQ 5 EV Road Trip USA #3: SOUTH DAKOTA Sights, Sculpture, and Scarce DC Charging

Hop in the IONIQ 5, we're heading for them thar Black Hills... As it happens, the site of a notable Gold Rush in the 1870s is also rich with exquisite scenery and attractive EV charging options, at least compared to the deserts either side of it. We start back in the Badlands, where off-grid camping and scenic drives to hiking barely tax the EGMP's battery capabilties. After the barren beauty of this area (and its adorable wildlife), we head west to explore Custer State Park, with a wide variety of bucolic scenery, winding roads, and lovely lake hikes. Toss in some impressive sculptures of iconic historic figures and you have the perfect place to spend a night (or three... but we only had the one). Tourist boxes confidently checked, we head back on the road west, into the notorious DCFC desert that is the state of Wyoming. Dealership charging makes a difference once again here, although it's not quite up to the lofty standards of Ford Charge stations. Adding another state, we make it to Crow Country in the south of Montana, before finishing up for the video somewhere between Billings and Bozeman, MT.
