Catharine Ellis, Woven Shibori and Natural Dye キャサリン エリス 織絞りと天然染料
This video includes a brief description of the woven shibori process: supplemental threads are woven into the cloth, then gathered, to form a resist for dyeing. Originally a handwoven process, Catharine now collaborates with The Oriole Mill, a small Jacquard weaving mill in North Carolina, USA, to weave some of her fabrics. Dyeing of the fabrics is done with indigo, cochineal, and other dye plants from Catharine’s garden. https://www.ellistextiles.com/
