Mekukradjá – Círculo de Saberes de Escritores e Realizadores Indígenas (2016)

Mekukradjá is a word of Caiapó origin – an ethnic group that inhabits Mato Grosso and Pará – and means “wisdom, “transmission of knowledge”. With this ideal in mind, the event Mekukradjá – Circle of Knowledge of Indigenous Writers and Producers brought together artists from 11 states and 11 ethnic groups in five conversation sessions in September 2016 at the headquarters of Itaú Cultural in São Paulo (SP), curated by Daniel Munduruku, Cristino Wapichana, Cristina Flória, Junia Torres and Andrea Tonacci. This video brings together speeches by participants in this first edition of Mekukradjá, with the aim of providing an overview of the reflection on artistic creation and the identity of each people.
