A few days ago, and almost unexpectedly, a pair of models from the Asian giant DongFeng arrived in the Chilean automotive market. Through one of its sub-brands, they will offer consumers two vehicle alternatives with avant-garde designs at an attractive price. These, without fear of being mistaken, would become the most affordable automotive options in the fleet, with this level of performance, dimensions, and engine configuration. This time, the Chinese state-owned company, through its subsidiary Aeolus, brings us a sedan and a crossover based on the same platform, but with the appropriate adjustments, of course. And, not only that, they also use the same powertrain and share, for the most part, the same equipment, safety, and infotainment specifications. We're talking about the new Aeolus Y3 and GS Cross. In the first case, we have the Aeolus Y3 (also known as the Aeolus Yixuan, Shine, DongFeng A30, etc.; everything depends on the country in which it's sold). The fact is, we're looking at a sedan with a slight coupe feel, generously sized at a disruptive price. In addition to offering excellent interior space, it has a modern design with well-defined lines that give it a sporty look, making it seem like we're looking at a vehicle with a higher price and range. The Aeolus Y3, as it's known in the Chilean market; It offers a spacious and comfortable interior, with avant-garde faux-leather upholstery and an elegant and modern color scheme. It also includes a multifunction steering wheel, a 7-inch digital tachometer, a multi-touch radio with a 10.1-inch vertical entertainment screen with Bluetooth connectivity, a rearview camera, some driver assistance systems, and from 4 to 6 speakers. The Aeolus Y3 is equipped with a 1.5-liter engine delivering 123 hp and 158 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed manual transmission (in its most basic version) or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (in the Comfort and Luxury versions). The Aeolus GS Cross, on the other hand, is a station wagon crossover built on the same platform as the Y3 Yixuan, but with appropriate adjustments. In terms of powertrain, it features the same 1.5-liter turbocharged DVVT inline 4-cylinder engine used by its Y3 sibling. However, in this case, the GS is only available with a 6-speed DCT automatic transmission. In terms of features and equipment, this model is closely related to the Y3 Luxury version. The top speed is 180 km/h (112 mph) with a manual transmission and 190 km/h (62 mph) with an automatic transmission. It has a combined fuel consumption of 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers (6.5 liters per 100 kilometers). Its entry-level version starts at $10,900 USD and goes up to $12,200 for the GS Cross.
