Hundreds of protesters, including members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), civil society groups and labour activists staged a peaceful demonstration in Abeokuta, Ogun State, demanding the immediate rescue of 39 schoolchildren and seven teachers abducted from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The protest comes 19 days after the attack, as concerns over insecurity and the safety of schoolchildren continue to mount across Nigeria.
