Dalits have faced centuries of discrimination and marginalization, and despite legal and social advances, they still deal with deep inequalities. It could be said that not all the poor are Dalits, but Dalits are poor. I traveled to different places in India, slums, poor neighborhoods of Bombay, Gujarat, rural areas of India to be able to have different perspectives of the Dalits also known as the pariahs of India, from their historical origins to the contemporary challenges they face daily.
