Stem cells have enormous therapeutic potential, the limits of which we still don't know, but it is necessary that we begin to discuss the ethical boundaries that stem cell research should have. This discussion should include not only scientists but all of society. A researcher from Cantabria, he holds a degree in Biology from the University of León and a PhD in Medical Genetics from Uppsala University (Sweden), where he completed his postdoctoral work in Epigenetics at Stanford University (USA). He has been Principal Investigator of the Developmental Genomics group at the University of Cologne (Germany), an EMBO Young Investigator (EMBO YIP) award recipient, and is currently a researcher in the STAR2 program at the University of Cantabria and director of the Transcriptional Regulation during Development and Congenital Disease group at the Institute of Biomedicine and Biotechnology of Cantabria (IBBTEC).
