So such a 1988 luxury coupe is not only a dream for us fortysomethings, but according to many, it is the yardstick to which everything else should be compared - even other Mercedes coupes. To test this theory, here is a CL 600 from 1996. The 140 series was created to match the 126 in everything, so the top coupe with a V12 engine is bigger, better equipped, much more powerful and moves even more refined than its predecessor. Nevertheless, much less of it was sold, and even today the Mercedes 560 SEC is still the best in the eyes of many, not the successor Mercedes CL 600. What is the truth? We find out in this video.
