Coronaire bypass (CABG)

http://www.nucleushealth.com/ - This medical 3D animation shows a coronary bypass surgery (CABG) used to treat coronary artery disease. After an incision down the middle of the sternum, the heart is connected to a heart-lung machine, which takes over heart functions during the operation. Two types of grafts can serve as bypasses for the narrowed coronary arteries: the internal thoracic artery and the saphenous vein, a vein from the leg. After the procedure, shocks are administered to restart the heart. Excess fluid is drained through a drainage tube left in the incision. The animation then shows two other methods for coronary bypass surgery, namely an off-pump bypass and a minimally invasive bypass. ANCE00199dut
